Mont Canisy

This is the H.K.B. Canisy (Vill 013). It had 6 pieces of 15,5 cm K 420 (f) and was manned by 2./1255 H.K.A.A. There were six open emplacements, three bunkers 679 were constructed as substitutes. Casemate number 4 was in planning. In relation to D-day the battery was bombed by the allied airforce and shelled by the navy, because they feared that the battery was able to cover the Sword beach. On 01-06-44 only one gun was installed in a 679. The other five were also unable to shell Sword beach, because that distance is 24 km and the maximum range of the gun is 18 km.

An old emplacement and a younger casemate.
