This area has been a battlefield in both World War One and Two. The German cemetery at the 'Chemins des Dames' is huge and very impressive, a total of 11.808 German World War Two soldiers rest here. Coming from Laffaux on the N2, turn right at 'les Chemins des Dames'. This same road is also a World War One memorial. When entering the village of Vauxaillon from Neuville you will spot the French World War One cemetery on your left. Next to the N2, south west of Soissons, near the village of Vauxbuin, one will find another French World War One cemetery. 3.972 soldiers are buried here.
