Stützpunktgruppe Moerdijk

It is devided over two provinces and covered in Noord-Brabant. Already in the early days of the war, the maydays of 1940, the bridges near Moerdijk proved to be strategic objects. Who ever had control over these bridges could either advance into the inner heart of Holland, to the cities of Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht and Amsterdam. Or could defend this important region. The Germans fortified the bridgeheads and the bridges became Stützpunktgruppe Moerdijk. A lot of bunkers were built but due to the industrial and infrastructural expension most of them disappeared.
