28 cm SK C/28

These guns were used on the armoured ships of the "Lützow" class, which, besides the "Lützow", had the "Admiral Graf Spee" and the "Admiral Scheer". The ammunition used was of an inferior quality. The aerodynamic was bad and the blunt nose had not enough penetration capacity to be a real treat to the English ships that presued the "Graf Spee" all the way to Montevideo. We only found one battery, in planning, which was to be fitted out with these guns. All 27 guns were still on the three ships at the end of the war, so we do not know were the "Knokke" guns came from. The battery "Scheldt" was still under construction, when the Belgian coast was liberated in the autumn of 1944.
