Along the road from Sangatte to Coquelles, the D 243, two farms are located north. Here the 28 cm guns of the battery were placed. A third farm has some supporting buildings, such as a Sk hospital as found in other navy sites in the area. We will visit these locations later. At the south side of this road there are two bunkers for ammunition, which belong to Prinz Heinrich. The battery was placed during the preparations of operation Seelöwe, the German invasion of England. After that plan was abandoned, the guns were moved in April 1943 all the way to Leningrad. The gap in the overall firing plan was closed by the new battery Grosser Kurfürst.
